REVIEW: MAYBELLINE PURE MINERAL LIQUID FOUNDATION and LOOSE POWDER

I wanted to try mineral makeups and I love to try this pure mineral line from Maybelline. I bought this liquid foundation and loose powder together.

I bought the shade in OC 2. The shade seems right for me (at the mall) but when I got home the color seems a bit darker with my skin color. Maybe the lighting inside the mall has a different effect. Moving on, though it's dark I will use my liquid foundation and top it with a light shade powder, on the other hand if i use the loose powder I apply a light shade liquid foundation prior to that. So, no product is wasted. I use that trick so I can get the right shade for me.

The only downside with these products is that it can't control oil. My face gets oily after 2 hours and i have to retouch more often. My skin seems that it doesn’t absorb the product that’s why if I accidentally wiped my face the product went off to the tissue or in my hanky.

It comes with a glass bottle (but very lightweight), with a pumped-up cover that makes the product more convenient to use. Unlike other liquid foundation I love the packaging of Maybelline’s because it’s very hygienic, I don’t have to use my fingers to get the product nor use a spatula, i just have to pump the bottle.

PROS
  • the packaging is nice, with its pump-up bottle packaging i can easily get the product (liquid foundation)
  • the smell is ok, not that strong, you can smell the typical scent of a foundation
  • nice finish (on the first one hour)
  • no breakouts; good for those with sensitive skin
  • the price is ok, compared to other mineral makeups
CONS
  • cannot control oil
  • it smudges
  • a bit watery compared to other liquid foundations (i've tried)
  • my face become cakey after few hours

Well, I can’t say much with the loose powder because it works just fine, it doesn’t control my oil but I still want to continue using it because it doesn’t break me out. The packaging is just the same as the usual packaging of loose powders, very convenient; it also comes with a small kabuki brush.

About the kabuki brush it is small, and a bit scratchy. I’m having hard time distributing the product on my face because of this brush so, I use my personal kabuki brush which is more soft and easy to glide.

PROS
  • packaging
  • nice finish
  • no breakouts
  • affordable
  • available locally
CONS
  • Doesn’t control the oil
  • The kabuki brush that comes with it is scratchy

VERDICT
Rating: 3/5
I recommend this for those who have sensitive skin and looking for mineral makeups at low price.
